Orange sulphur
An orange-yellow butterfly clings to a white and yellow flower. The background is a blurry green-brown.
The orange sulphur (Colias eurytheme) flies April through December. This opportunistic butterfly will be readily found in nearly any open landscape but tends to be most abundant near clover or alfalfa, earning it the nickname “alfalfa butterfly.”
