2019 Chinquapin debris flow
A low-clearance sedan-type vehicle stranded in a mud deposit and abandoned on the road.
Very intense localized rainfall in the Chinquapin area triggered many small mud and debris flows onto the Wawona Road between Chinquapin and Avalanche Creek, within an area of moderate to severe burn intensity in the Ferguson Fire scar. Within the highest intensity burn area northwest of Chinquapin, a section of road was covered with mud, rocks, and burned wood debris. A low-clearance sedan-type vehicle became stranded in the mud and was abandoned in place (the passengers were not injured); the vehicle later had to be towed.
