Everett Road Covered Bridge contra dancers 1
U.S. National Park Service
Contra dancers dance inside the Everett Road Covered Bridge to the music of Strings and Things and caller Carol Kopp. || New England Style contra dancing was probably brought to the Cuyahoga Valley by 19th century settlers arriving from New Hampshire, Connecticut, and New York. It is similar to square dancing and performed by couples facing in two opposite lines. Before each dance, the caller explains the figures while walking the dancers through them. Cuyahoga Valley National Park hosts contra dances twice a month.
