Large hotel building at the base of a mountain range
Century-old Many Glacier Hotel, located on the eastern mountain range of Glacier National Park is situated on the shores of Swiftcurrent Lake. After 16 years of rehabilitation, the 102-year-old hotel has been restored to its original grandeur as the "Gem of the West" in Glacier National Park. Included in the historic renovation was the reconstruction of a helical staircase in the Main Lobby area. The original helical staircase was removed from the Many Glacier Hotel in 1957 to make room for a gift shop expansion. The completion of the new helical staircase marked the end of the major rehabilitation efforts in the lodge in restoring the historic character of this renowned National Historic Landmark. The gift shop was relocated to the Lower Lake Level where the entire lower level was reconfigured to meet current Park and Concessionaire programming. Also included in the renovation were structural improvements, new finishes, and bringing the Lobby and Annex up to modern codes.
