Construction workers lay two side-by-side walls of portland cement block to form the inner and center walls of the fort.
The inner and center walls of the lower level of the fort were laid with stabilized bricks made of Portland cement. The original outer wall was stabilized adobe, generally later replaced by concrete masonry block walls to reduce maintenance.
