Bluestone River, Final Wild and Scenic River Study
This document is a Section 5(a) Congressionally authorized study. The study is required to determine the eligibility, classification, and suitability of the river in order for it to be included in the Wild and Scenic River System. The purpose of this study, as stated in the document, is to determine if the Bluestone River in West Virginia is free-flowing and possesses oustandingly remarkable values (ORVs) which make it eligible for addition to the National Wild and Scenic Rivers Syste,, and to determine if eligible segments of the river are suitable for inclusion in the National System based on such factors as the significance of the resource values present, threats to those values , and extent of public lands in the river area; costs required for acquisition, development, management and operation; public, local or State interest in acting to protect and manage the river; and the feasibility and timeliness of such action.
