LIBI_00019_00581; This item is an albumen, card-mounted photograph of General George A. Custer and Duke Alexis of Russia in standing full view and dressed in hunting clothes. The photograph is 6 x 7 3/4" (7 3/4 x 10" mounted). As noted on page 98 of D. Mark Katz's book, the image was produced in 1872 by John A. Scholten. On the verso, a handwritten notation by Elizabeth B. Custer reads: "This picture is for the buckskin jacket and breeches and the red neck tie - Tie is too long - With the buckskin suit there was no insignia of rank./Grand Duke Alexis of Russia and General Custer."Photograph reprinted in "The Custer Album" by Lawrence A.
