Water battery at Castillo de San Marcos National Monument in January 2008
The water battery is a gun platform below the Castillo, facing Matanzas Bay. The battlement/seawall is made of a variety of stones, and topped with tabby (a concrete-type material with oyster shell aggregate).
eastern portions of the battlement with the San Carlos Bastion and garita/watchtower.
The location of the central salient point of the water battery is 29°53'52"N, 81°18'39.5"W.
