“April 6th 1854 Dear Brother Richard I am now in school and writing to thee to tell thee Burroughs is dead he died at two oclock this morning how dreadfully Cousin Lizzie must feel. I do not know when the Funeral is to be but I suppose tomorrow or Today Father & Mother are both very [smart?] the [farmer?] brought us up to school and has gone home to take mother I guess. thee will please excuse poor and Hurried writing as I have lessons to get. I must close so Good –bye from thy ever Affectionate sister Sarah.”
