Bust-length portrait. Henry Wadsworth Longfellow three-quarter view to his right (viewer's left). He is wearing a dark suit with striped texture, almost like a corduroy. Two buttonholes are visible in the lapels. Longfellow has chin-length white hair and a full white beard.

Inscription: "1875" written in pencil verso probably by Thomas de Valcourt. Photographer stamp includes "Lamson [in script] / Portland, ME." printed in gold underneath image.
Notes: C1878 for original image. Print and mount may have been produced slightly later. Related to another photograph given that date. This print may be a later copy. The reasons why T. de Valcourt gave 1875 as date are unclear.
Associated Materials: 3007-1-2-1-90 probably taken at same photo session.
