Repair of the 8th Pennsylvania Monument at Gettysburg National Military Park in June 2007
8th Pennsylvania Cavalry Monument, this granite and bronze monument, located on Pleasonton Avenue, Gettysburg National Military Park, was vandalized in 2006. A bronze saber was removed and not recovered. This missing detail detracted from the overall appearance of the monument. Another bronze saber was cast, and installed by GNMP Monument Branch personnel in June, 2007. The monument is now complete, and exhibits an enhanced appearance to Park visitors.
