My name is Olugbenga Olugbuyi, I live in DC, and I consider myself an amateur photographer. The two people that inspired me to pick up a camera are my teacher Mr. Cross and my grandfather. Seeing how they take pictures that visually immerse the viewer speaks to me, and I try to do the same with my photos. I enjoy taking pictures of nature, statues, and portraits of government figures like John F. Kennedy and Barack Obama.
I have been impacted by The White House and President's Park photography program. During the program, I learned many new photography skills such as the rule of thirds, shutter speed, aperture, and ISO. Learning these things helped to level up my photography skills and now I can take better pictures. My knowledge about National Parks has also grown since I first started this program. I learned about Piscataway Park and the people from those sacred grounds, and Storer College, a normal school for African-Americans in Harpers Ferry. There is no way I would have learned these stories without the National Park Service staff who help preserve, protect, and interpret these important sites. I am grateful for everything this program has taught me.
