Corner view of cast iron building with semi-circle windows.
Constructed in 1850-51, the Penn Mutual Life Insurance Building stood at the northeast corner of Third and Dock Streets. It was "the first cast-iron building in Philadelphia, and one of the earliest cast-iron buildings in the nation." The building was demolished in 1956, and the site today is occupied by the Museum of the American Revolution.
