Costumed volunteers wave to the incoming Polar Express train. || Each winter Cuyahoga Valley National Park and Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad present The Polar Express, a holiday program based on the book by Chris Van Allsburg. Thousands of children clad in pajamas board the train in Independence and Akron, Ohio to travel with merry elves to the North Pole. At the North Pole, children look out the windows to see volunteers dressed as holiday characters and are joined on the train by Santa.
