Helicopter use on prescribed burn, Everglades NP in May, 2003

Helicopters are an important tool in managing wildland fires. They are used to transport firefighters and equipment, for aerial ignition of prescribed burns and to monitoring the fire. Helibases are where land for refueling, to pick up passengers and equipment.
