1 of 4 Monuments to Illinois. Marks 1st line of battle held by 82nd Illinois before retreating to East Cemetery Hill. Located on W Howard Ave near Wheeler's Battery. || 1 Mn. Smooth base 5' sq. Smooth shaft with excised inscription & detailing, bronze medallion in lower part of shaft. Topped w/curved, cylindrical cap. All 12'6" H. Small chips in base.
