La Paz, Looking East Toward the Tehachapi Mountains
Forested hillsides with several white trailers in the foreground, on the edge of an open grassy area.
A view looking down on trailers in the temporary housing area of La Paz in 1972, with the Tehachapi Mountains visible on the east horizon. As activists traveled to La Paz to volunteer for the movement, hundreds of people lived and worked at La Paz, and they all needed a place to live. Trailers provided a low-cost solution.
