U.S. National Park Service
Located between lunettes Palmer and Thomas, Curtain Wall No. 2 has a 650' parapet wall, approx. 10' high, a forward trench, & five distinct traverses. Heavily vegetated w/a well-worn path on the parapet & on several traverses (7/93). || Earthwork is one extant feature of Fortress Rosecrans and is nationally significant for its association with the post-battle Federal occupation of Murfreesboro and as a good example of Civil War-era earthwork construction. || Images were contracted by the NPS Office of the Chief Information as part of a larger project to add images of all Civil War monuments to the NPS Civil War Soldiers and Sailors System.
