Exaggerated geologic cross-sections for Glen Canyon National Recreation Area.
Exaggerated geologic cross-sections for Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. The cross-sections illustrate
the relatively undeformed nature of the strata with broad anticlines (A-shaped folds) and synclines (U-shaped
folds). The Navajo Mountain laccolith in cross-section B-B’ cuts Lower Jurassic-Upper Triassic strata, indicating that
emplacement of the igneous unit occurred after the Late Jurassic.
