Lanikai (schooner, 2m) at Little Harbor, Catalina Island, CA, undated
LANAKAI ex HERMES was built by Stone and used as a movie prop in the filming of "Hurricane." Written on the back of the print: "I wonder how Scott got hold of it. It is the LANIKAI ex HERMES as a movie prop in 'Hurricane.' She did not have a gaff mainsail and double lifts when built. The whaleboat is phony too. It is not built to carry cargo, the boat on top of the house has no place on a trader either. Another thing the LANIKAI had and iron rudder stick. This one shows it too." Additional information included inside the large print enclosure: copy of a letter from Capt. Fred Klebingat to Karl Kortum.
