Crowley's Launches visible in the background.[CR]Image reproduced in John Kemble's book, "San Francisco Bay: A Pictorial Maritime History," p. 137, with the following information: "BEACON ROCK loading salmon at Howard St. Wharf, about 1907....This photograph was taken the same day as the preceding one, but looks westward up the wharf toward East St. BEACON ROCK, a steel square-rigger of 1,917 tons, with her home port at Glasgow, is loading canned salmon for the European market. The bow of BAYONNE is visible at the left with the gas schooner beyond. The great two- and four-horse drays, used to move cargo to and from the wharves, are notable. In the distance, some of the sailor accommodations on East Street are visible with signs advertising "Jessie Moore Whiskey" and "California Steam Beer."
