Man identified only as "George," in the smoking room aboard Javanese Prince (built 1944; cargo vessel)
"George" appears in other photographs that Arthur Thompson took, but his identity is unknown. Thompson experiemented at times with light, film speed, and time settings in his photography; this is one example of this. The vessel was laid down in 1944 for the Prince Line, a subsidiary of the Rio Cape Line. In 1954 she was transferred from the Rio Cape Line. In 1961, she was sold to Ben Line and renamed BENLARIG.
